Solidarity!
Posted by Bradley L. Garrett on Saturday Nov 5, 2011 Under Celebration, Civil Rights, Occupation, Spatial Politics“What is at stake, then, is the practice of genuine democracy, of a return to the polis, the public space for the encounter and negotiation of disagreement, where those who have no place and are not counted or named, can acquire or, better still, appropriate voice…” -Erik Swyngedouw
Place hacking pledges solidarity with everyone across the globe staging occupations and interventions to force transparency from our corrupt global government, financial and regulatory systems.
Political protest takes many forms. Know that when the time comes, we have the keys, the evidence, the locations and the skills you may need for the next step. We look forward to your call. We are the 99%.
Explore everything. Occupy everything.

You do realise that Guy Fawkes mask is property of Warner Bros and that they get royalties every time some buys one right? 😛

It's also the symbol for the largest hacker collective in human history. As Swyngedouw points out in the quote above, voice is appropriated where it is needed. That includes the appropriation of symbols, including symbols of capital. Warner Bros is welcome to make all the money they like off masks purchases for the protest, that's doesn't render the protest inert in any way.
In fact, the appropriation and exploitation of those symbols makes it even more funny, as Banksy is well aware: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36250307@N03/6280435…
There is also a great write up on just this topic over at the Society and Space blog: http://societyandspace.com/2011/11/21/stuart-elde…
